Street cleaning

The City of Pirna ensures cleanliness on the roads, cycle paths, paved roadside parking areas (parking bays), road gutters and drains, on pavements, steps and crosswalks, verges and safety strips, as well as embankments and ditches, using a large sweeper rented specifically for this purpose. The City of Pirna also owns a small sweeper, which ensures cleanliness in the city centre and hot spots throughout the year.

The street cleaning statutes with the corresponding list, which lists all streets that are cleaned, can be found in the section Local law (in German) under the heading Traffic Areas and Facilities.

Sweeping plan

Regular cleaning takes place from April to the beginning of November – from Monday to Thursday. Each of the streets is cleaned once every four weeks. The yard starts its work at 6 a.m., earlier on the larger access roads, if necessary. For roads with free closures, cleaning begins at 7 am.

In addition to the regular tour schedule, the City conducts a spring and autumn special cleaning.

The street directory and exact details of when and where street cleaning is carried out can be found on our website under Dienstleistungen A-Z - Straßenreinigung in German only.

Stopping prohibitions

For the sweeper to perform the cleaning on all parts of the street in good quality, the streets with parking will be signposted with no-stopping signs at least 72 hours before the cleaning. To ensure a smooth process, the city administration asks citizens to adhere to these stopping prohibitions.

Resident duties

Residents are also called upon to fulfil their resident obligations. The owner of the abutting property is responsible for cleaning all streets not listed in the street cleaning directory.

The cleaning of the pavements is the responsibility of the residents on all streets. Resident obligations can also be found in the above-mentioned street cleaning statutes.
